Being the face at the bar of our busy pub, restaurant and live music venue means locals and patrons will quickly come to know you – and to remember the great bar and dining experience you deliver for them each night.

You’ll work to maximise sales and minimise issues within the Responsible Service of Alcohol framework and the venue’s dining code and will also be needed for cleaning, stock taking, deliveries and host operations from time to time.

Experience

  • Must hold a valid Victorian RSA. Food Handlers Certificate also preferred

Working closely with the Bar Manager, we are looking for a Bar Supervisor who is keen to go the extra mile and take the next step in Bar Management.

Taking on responsibility for the guest experience we deliver, you’ll ensure high levels of customer service are provided at all times within our guidelines by working well both as part of the team and also taking on the leadership role when necessary. You should have strong product knowledge and bar skills, a willingness to join in and the reliability and drive to help maximise sales and minimise issues within the Responsible Service of Alcohol framework. In line with the great pub experience we want to deliver for our inner west guests you will also need to be friendly and approachable and able to work well with our patrons, shareholders, associates and other staff members.

This is a key role which will enable you to demonstrate your passion for the hospitality industry by creating an exciting bar environment to be enjoyed by both staff and patrons alike.

Key Responsibilities

Venue Technician (Sound and Lighting)

People come to us to eat, drink and socialise, but most of all, to be entertained. Taking the venue from cosy communal lounge room to full blown disco dance party in one evening is no mean feat and will require the mastermind to be proficient in the use of technology, sound, lighting and a little showmanship to ensure a thumping vibe across the venue, night after night.

Experience of working behind a bar and a strong knowledge of the Melbourne live music scene and lifestyle will also help you to provide the standard of late-night entertainment we are looking for. The ability to keep yourself well-balanced whilst working a full-time job with late nights and busy shifts is also imperative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working behind the bar and on the floor, collecting glasses, serving or acting as host for patrons during busy/quiet times.
  • Promote gigs and events to patrons and bar staff.
  • Familiarise yourself with the venue layout and all sound and lighting equipment.
  • Liaise with Venue Booker to ensure a seamless experience for both bands and patrons during gigs.
  • Receive band specs, making sure the venue is ready for each band to set up and sound check.
  • Act as the venue's host, welcoming musicians and entourages and looking after them during their stay.
  • Help bands to bump in and out and be on hand throughout gigs to manage sound and lighting and TVs, if required.
  • Liaise with bar staff and Venue Manager to deliver riders for bands.
  • Look after the venue's general sound and lighting and ensure that the system is being used effectively at all times.
  • Act as DJ on night's when no specific DJ act is booked.
  • Ensure the venue is compliant with all OHS requirements with regards to sound, lighting and staging gigs.
  • Liaising with food truck vendors, greeting and helping them to bump in and set up, providing assistance with electrical and set up.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Venue Manager or bar staff.

Behind every great bar team is a hard-working barback, a role in which you’ll literally have the bartenders’ backs ensuring they can do their job well by taking responsibility for providing them with all the necessary tools of the trade.

As barback you’ll need to be the ultimate team player, turning your keen eye for details to the attention of both the team and the premises to ensure an efficient service and a quick response time for guests. Tasks will include checking and maintaining stock levels, changing kegs, collecting glasses, cleaning and collaborating. You’ll demonstrate dexterity, strength and attention to detail, along with great communication skills and the abilities to multi-task and prioritise.
